BTC — Bearish market call

Published by King of the Charts - The Michael Burry of Bitcoin on 2026-09-26.

Bitcoin has not bottomed; the author expects the $57k floor to fail and describes a possible $17k–$25k bottom, with a $22k pattern target.

. 📉 The Psychology of Crowds at Macro Turning Points: Why $57k Isn't the Bitcoin Bottom The Crowd vs. The Contrarian: My contrarian viewpoint, that Bitcoin has not bottomed and that this is a bear market rally to deceive the crowd is grounded in a well-documented market phenomenon known as reflexivity and groupthink. The crowd's groupthink view is a inherently dangerous one because the crowd is usually wrong. Reflexivity & Groupthink: Reflexivity is a market theory popularized by billionaire investor George Soros that states investors' biases and emotions don't just react to market realities—they actively change them. When the trend reverses, reflexivity changes Bitcoin into a devastating downward spiral. Because so much of Bitcoin's liquidity is tied to leverage, margin, and speculative belief, the exit door is incredibly narrow and crowd gets wiped out once the selling begins. Right now, the crowd's reflexive groupthink belief that "$57k is the absolute bottom" is holding the Bitcoin up. However, the moment an external macro catalyst (like the upcoming November midterm elections, the believe the Fed will have to aggressively raise rates, an Inflation scare or oil shock) pushes the price structurally below that psychological line, the feedback loop flips violently. In a reflexive market, the crowd's blind euphoria quickly turns to pure panic in the blink of an eye, once they realized they've been deceived. The Structural Breakdown: This perfectly explains my thesis on why the $57k floor will fail and why the second leg down of the BTC bear market is always worse than the first leg down. In every single BTC bear market, the second leg down of the bear market has ALWAYS been worse than the first. ⚠️The Deadly Cost of Market Groupthink: The Crowd's groupthink is dangerous because it creates a psychological echo chamber that completely blinds investors and traders to systemic risks and structural trend reversals. By linearly extrapolating recent gains into infinity, the crowd universally anchors to arbitrary "unbreakable" support levels (in this case $57k), ensuring they never scale out at macro tops or bear market rallies. They become trapped. Ultimately, this collective delusion leads to forced, catastrophic liquidations when a severe second leg down violently shatters their consensus floor or at the end of a bull market run. We saw the same groupthink and forced selling at the top just before the first leg down. 📉 The Pain of the Second Leg: True capitulation cannot occur while the crowd is still confidently calling the bottom. A second leg down that violently slices through a universally agreed-upon "floor" is a psychological necessity in a bear market. It is specifically designed to force the permabulls & the crowd into panic-selling at the absolute worst time—which is precisely how a generational bottom in the $17k–$25k range can get forged and the Bitcoin Head & Shoulders pattern could play out. It is likely that the right shoulder of a Head & Shoulders pattern has set up in a bear market rally to deceive the bulls. The minimum objective target of the pattern is $22k. While the crowd believes that the bear market is over and that the new bull market has begun, it is much more likely that this has been a bear market rally to trick the crowd and trap them in a bull trap. Their hopes have to be dashed for the bear market to end. . $BTC #BTC #Bitcoin #BTCUSD $IBT $HODL $ETH #Crypto
